March 21st and September 21st The best ham radio bands to benefit from TEP: 10m and 6m Occurs in late afternoon and early evening local time (think 3pm – 7pm) Skip from the 100-500 mile high “F and F2” layer are steady and strong Range for TEP on 10 and 6 meters is… 3000 to 5000 miles 2 Meter "EveningTEP” may observed later in the day between 7:00pm and 11:00pm local time if, if the atmospheric ionization is strong enough. These late evening TEP signals exhibit distortion, flutter, and fading as the ionization of the F and F2 layers break up after sun down. TEP radio paths are north – south. (Think Central and South America) *All HR licenses have privileges on 10, 6, and 2 meters.
