LCARC Sponsored Awards

Awards

​The Lake County ARC hosts two major awards.  One, the Ham of the Year, is  presented by the club, at its discretion, to the LCARC member who has shown leadership, who has accepted responsibility, and is active in multiple areas of  ham radio and in service to the club (not just the best DXer, or the oldest club
officer).

The other major award, the Herb S. Brier award,  honors the  memory of long time CQ Novice Editor Herb Brier.  This award is presented
in the spirit of effective, caring Amateur Radio instruction. The ARRL and the  Lake County Amateur Radio Club, co-sponsor this award in Herb's memory. The award is bestowed by the ARRL to recognize the very best in volunteer Amateur  Radio instructions.

Ham of the Year Award

Herb S. Brier, long time CQ Novice Editor, represented the sprit of effective,
caring Amateur Radio instruction. The ARRL and the Lake County Amateur Radio  Club, co-sponsor this award in Herb's memory. The award is bestowed by the ARRL  to recognize the very best in volunteer Amateur Radio instructions. The name  of the award is the “ARRL Herb S. Brier Instructor of the Year Award".

LCARC Ham Of The Year Award Guidelines:

1.  Must be well rounded in the  hobby. 
2.  Must have served as an officer of the  club.
3.  Must be above  reproach.
4.  Must not have received any admonishments from the club. 
5.  Must be public service oriented. 
6.  Must have made significant  contributions through amateur radio to/for the  club. 
7. Must conduct himself in an  exemplary manner at all times. 
The nominee must be nominated by and agreed to by a majority of previous Hams of the Year.
